a cross came to be

Experiencing the surprise of when a design comes to life after hours of designing, sanding and soldering .....

Designing and making something on commission is never totally relaxing. Even though you have lots of fun while making it, there still is that little voice constantly asking ….. ‘so, are you dead sure you’re on the right track here?’

Designing

Starting off with lots of scribbles and sketches

But may be that is just part of why I really like what I do. There is always that element of surprise when you finally finish something. Even if you’ve spent hours on doing a design and know exactly how you are going to execute it, you still get that ‘wow’ moment once you’ve finished the last bit of sanding or polishing.

In this case I decided to first try out the design by making a pair of earrings. It turned out to have been a good idea since I added the wire stems of the little leaves only afterwards when I found the design too ’empty’.

The pictures give an idea of how it all happened and the final result which turned out to be exactly what the client had in mind. She was happy and so was I!
